Coachella is an annual music festival thrown every year in Indio, California. Its official name is Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. It lasts 2 weekends and you can see performances by many popular artists. This year some popular artists who performed were Bad Bunny, Becky G, Frank Ocean, BLACKPINK, and many more! Over 250,000 people attend this festival every year as it is one of the most popular festival held in the U.S.
One of the controversial things to happen at Coachella this year was Frank Ocean's performance. Frank Ocean is a songwriter/ rapper. His performance at Coachella was his first concert in 6 years. He was supposed to first perform in Coachella in 2020 but due to the pandemic, as well as his brother passing away, this was delayed. This performance caused much excitement between fans and many of them bought tickets to Coachella just to see him perform. Many fans went right to the stage where he was performing at Coachella and waited hours just to get a good spot to see him perform. Unfortunately Frank Ocean's performance turned out to be what nobody expected. First thing being was he started his performance an hour late. It has since come out that he decided to change his set by removing an ice rink and skaters that were supposed to be used during his performance. He refused to go onstage unless these changes were made. Once he finally was on stage many fans reported that he put no effort into his performance. He also abruptly ended the concert when he had performed less then an hour. It has since come out that he had broken his ankle and this was the cause for his set change and for stopping the concert. Due to this broken ankle he cancelled on performing in weekend 2 of Coachella. Many fans were left disappointed with Frank Ocean and Coachella.
Since Frank Oceans performance started an hour later then it was supposed to it did cause Coachella to end later then usual when they had a strict curfew. Since they had a strict curfew, Coachella was fined for ending later then they were supposed to. They were also left to find a new performer once Frank Ocean withdrew from performing during weekend 2 of Coachella. Many people are questioning if he should be held responsible the fine and for damages caused by all of these problems. Some fans don't think he should as they believe he is more of a songwriter then a performer. Others feel as though he should be held responsible as his performance caused so many problems to every party involved.

Hey Alondra,
ReplyDeleteThe title itself brought me right to your blog. I don't attend Coachella, but I stream a lot of it, much more the top artists, and follow numerous people. Once I started hearing everything you clearly described, I was bummed. It's a blog worth reading and so many questions I could ask.
Glad to see at least 2 new entries for the last GP, Alondra. Pretty good ideas and topics and writing flow. Good visuals. Keep digging into analysis and significance. Missing entries #9 & #10.
